There’s no wonder why the Logos Hope Community is regarded as a genuine expression of international goodwill and understanding. It has over 45 different nationalities represented on board – people from different cultures that live and work together to bring knowledge, help and hope to the port communities they serve around the world.
The crew and staff of Logos Hope are all non-salaried volunteers. They get sponsorship from friends, family members and civic organizations. Most of them serve for two years.
The main aim of the ship and those on board is to serve people in the port communities, and while in pursuit of that, crewmembers are given valuable opportunities to learn new skills and develop character. All of them on board, despite cultural and language differences, are one on their vision to provide access to high quality literature, express practical love to those in need, promote peace by embracing diversity and guide people towards purposeful life.
The crew and staff of Logos Hope formally opened the ship and book fair to the public on Wednesday. Distinguished guests, including Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia and Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama, were present during the launching.

Logos Hope Captain James Dyer, Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama, Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia and Logos Hope Managing Director Gian Walser cut the ribbon to formally launch the Logos Hope book fair.
Along with Logos and Doulos, which have paid 11 visits to Cebu since 1972, Logos Hope is another ship of GBA Ships e.V. that sails around the world.
GBA Ships e.V. is a non-profit organization in Germany that operates Logos (1970-1988), Logos II (1989-2008), Doulus (1977-2009) and Logos Hope (2004-Now). Since 1970, its ships, known for their floating book fair, have made over 1,400 port visits in over 160 countries and welcomed over 42 millions visitors on board.

Hi, were you able to watch their mini-show? Is it for free or you’d have to pay for the tickets to the mini-show?
Hello, Ko. As far as I know the only ticket you’ll have to pay is for the entrance. I believe you can watch the cultural shows for free.
What time does the crew stage a show?
Hello, Iching. I am not sure if the schedule is still the same. But it usually starts at 7 p.m. I will ask my friend who is onboard and I’ll get back to you. You should go and visit. They’ll be here until Feb. 12.
